Support for Awardees
- QDoes HaKaSe+ provide the financial support for the awardee during the hole standard period?A
Each fiscal year, every awardee is required to submit the report on whether he/she has carried out expected research activities, etc., in each project. HaKaSe+ decides whether it will continue to support each selected student for the next fiscal year based on the report and status of performance of awardees’ obligations.
Taking everything into its consideration, HaKaSe+ will take action such as suspending the support, cancelling the award or demanding the refund of the financial support when HaKaSe+ finds that it is not appropriate to continue the support. - QWhat should I do if I am selected as a JSPS Research Fellowships for Young Scientists (DC1 or DC2)? Can I receive financial support from HaKaSe+? Also, how about the exemption of admission fee and tuition fee?A
The applicant will no longer be eligible to receive financial support from WISE Program for Nano-Precision Medicine, Science, and Technology, SPRING Project for Doctoral Talents in Creating Novel Values and BOOST Project for Trailblazing AI Crossover Doctoral Talents.
Although you will lose your eligibility for financial support, you can continue to enroll in WISE Program for Nano-Precision Medicine, Science and participate in the projects implemented by HaKaSe+.
Since DC1 and DC2 are very honorable positions, KU applies admission and tuition fee full waiver also to them.
Also, it is possible for DC1 and DC 2 to receive enough research grant based on their own application to Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Research Fellows (KAKENHI). KU hopes that more doctoral students attempt to apply to DC1 or DC2, and will be selected for. - QIf applicant takes a leave of absence during the support period, will the support be continued? Will the support period be extended?A
If the applicant takes a leave of absence during the support period, the support will be suspended during the period of the leave of absence. The support will be resumed after the student returns to school, but as a rule, the period of support cannot be extended. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, so please be sure to consult with the respective project staff in advance when a reason for leave of absence arises.
