【Additional Information】Call for applications of HaKaSe + for April 2024
This is an announcement from “Kanazawa University Strategic Project for Development of Doctoral Students and Research Promotion (HaKaSe+) “.
HaKaSe+ will notify of additional information about “BOOST Project for Trailblazing AI Crossover Doctoral Talents (HaKaSe+ for BOOST),” one of the projects which HaKaSe+ is calling for applications in April 2024. The following is a supplementally explanation of what will be required of you if you are selected for HaKaSe+ for BOOST.
HaKaSe+ for BOOST is the project that Kanazawa University has applied for the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST)’ program. Therefore, HaKaSe+ will develop the details of contents after selected by JST.
The main purpose of this JST’ program is to foster the next generation of doctoral talents in AI research field in Japan by providing generous supports to outstanding doctoral students who are going to pursue AI-related research, among those who apply for the HaKaSe+ for SPRING to devote themselves in research. Therefore, HaKaSe+ for BOOST will conduct “AI theoretical education”, “AI lectures and practical training”, “AI catch-up seminars”, and “AI research interactions” for students selected for HaKaSe+ for BOOST.
In addition, the students accepted by BOOST and their supervisors will be requested to cooperate with an activity for sharing and circulating sample data and sample codes related to their research. However, please be sure that it does NOT mean that they need to show their raw data and codes. The aim of this action is boosting the research capacity of them and the whole researchers in KU by sharing AI and machine learning technology fully used by a researcher in KU. The outline of this activity is as follows:
- For research papers after publication, the essence of AI and machine learning technology is extracted. After that, sample data and/or sample codes are prepared.
- Since the purpose of this action is circulating the knowledge about AI and machine learning technology in KU, the sample data and/or sample codes can be different from real data and/or real codes used in research papers. For the preparation of sample data and/or sample codes, BOOST staff in KU will offer to cooperate if needed.
- In case that it is impossible to prepare sample data (e.g. research about medical image analysis), it is allowed to deny the sharing of sample data and/or sample codes.
- Due to some reasons about collaborative/contract research, patent application, preservation of security/privacy/confidentiality, it is also allowed to deny.
As stated above, HaKaSe+ NEVER request the sharing of information if it becomes a detriment to research. Therefore, please apply to HaKaSe+ for BOOST without worrying.
